JM Mercado has had more than 30 years of experience teaching music thanks to his early start to his career in music at 14 years old as a music director at his church in the Philippines. During his time in college, JM pursued a degree in music education with a specialization in choral conducting and trained under world-renowned music professors. Later on in JM’s career, he became a teacher for the Yamaha School of Music and the choral director of various different groups with experience teaching elementary to college-age students. JM’s ability to direct choirs allowed him to bring the choirs he taught to international choir competitions and festivals.

Upon moving to the United States from the Philippines, JM taught in the Amadeus School of Music in California and also taught private piano and voice lessons to students in the Bay Area. JM and his family moved to Texas in 2010 where he currently works in Pattison Elementary (KatyISD) as a Music Teacher and also worked as Epiphany Catholic Church's Music Director for 4 years and a part-time musician at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Fulshear TX.

JM is a co-owner of Korusleine Music Academy, Texas Certified Music Teacher and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) member.

JM’s teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that with practice, no piece will ever be difficult.

Christian Mariano graduated from Concordia University Texas with a B.A in English and a minor in music. While music was his minor, most of his time in college was spent rehearsing and playing percussion for different musical ensembles on-campus such as university choir, percussion ensemble, chapel band, and the symphonic winds. Christian specializes in teaching percussion which includes instruments such as drum set, timpani, mallet instruments, and other auxiliary instruments like the triangle, tambourine, claves, finger cymbals, etc. He also teaches beginning to intermediate piano, guitar and ukulele.

Christian loves to spend his free time learning new music or figuring out how to play songs by ear on the drum set, piano or guitar. Christian believes that in order for students to be motivated to learn their instrument, learning the basics is simply not enough. They need further encouragement which will be achieved through allowing them to pick pieces that interest them and learning a few tricks for their particular instrument that will catalyze their desire to learn more about it. Only then will students be well-versed in their instrument. Christian believes that musical instruments are more than just tools to play a song, they are tools that can be used to express oneself and learn more about the world around them.

Christian volunteers as a drummer at 10:15am Mass at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Fulshear TX. He was also a member of James E. Taylor High School Marching Band - Drumline in Katy TX from 2011-2015. Currently, Christian works as an English Teacher in Fort Bend ISD and a co-owner of Korusleine Music Academy and a TMEA member.
